On 1st October 2002 Fergusons (Blyth) Limited, one of the north’s foremost privately owned transport and property groups, announced the purchase of the business and assets of N Pretswell & Sons.

Alan Ferguson, Executive Chairman of the group stated that the purchase of Pretswell’s, one of the north’s oldest and well-respected removals and storage businesses complements the group’s existing removals business, Fergusons Removals. He said “We believe there is a great demand for domestic and commercial storage in the north east and we have been looking at ways to develop this sector. In reaching this agreement with Norman, we have taken the first step. I am delighted.”

The new company will be known as Pretswell Storeline and plans are to develop the “store at the door” service.

Norman Pretswell, who will continue in an advisory capacity said “We have known Fergusons for many years and the planned development of the Pretswell Storeline is exciting. Our current warehouse and containers will continue to be used as before and the only real effect on our existing customers will be that they will hear new voices on the other end of the phone!”

“We are looking forward”, said David Wilkinson, Ferguson’s General Manager in charge of property, removals and storage “to continuing to provide customers with the same, high level of service they have enjoyed with Norman.”
